I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see.

Sarah Blackwood and Walk Off the Earth have squeezed together around an acoustic guitar to cover Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know.

Kiwi singer Kimbra, whose vocals featured on the original hit song, loves the quintet’s creativity and took to Facebook to give it her stamp of approval.

“This is truly awesome! Now THAT’S team work,” she posted.

Laughing Squid posted this awesome clip from BBC One’s Earthflight in which devil rays in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico leap out of water and perform impressive aerial acrobatics. Who knew they could launch themselves out of the water and do flips?

This is Dred Scott. A musically talented homeless man from Denver, Colarado. Dred was noticed playing on the street by Tyler Ward, a well recognized musician around the Denver Metro Area and on YouTube, worldwide. From here Tyler records and presents the inspiration of Dred to the world.

Tyler has also created an iTunes account where people can purchase Dred’s music. All proceeds from songs purchased go to support Dred. Tyler Ward, the world needs more people like you.

It was a late friday evening in Denver when I hear Mr. Dred Scott playing music from a street corner. After chatting with Dred and hearing his story, I asked if I could feature him on my channel. He didn’t understand the concept, but he agreed to it anyway. A few days later, we found him on 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver where we proceeded to record him live -Tyler Ward.

Dred Scott. What an awesome name.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow.
I never meant to cause you any pain.
I only wanted to one time see you laughing.
I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain.

Fleet the Koala loses battle for life.

October last year I remember reading a new article of a heinous act in South Queensland, where a six-year-old male Koala had been shot at close range, 7 times with an air rifle.

Fleet was brought to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital on Thursday, October 13, with seven pellets lodged in various places throughout his body. The pellets were in his skull/nasal cavity, lower back and behind his ear, as well as one pellet in each limb.

This disturbing attack on one of Australia’s most loved and endangered national icons has to be at the top of the most callous and inhuman treatments of an animal in Australia. It distresses me to think of the intent and motivation that somebody would have to stand over a defenseless creature like this and fire round after round, only to leave it to fend for its close end.

Veterinarians treating Fleet said three pellets found close to the surface initially were removed, but others in Fleet’s skull and body were deemed too dangerous to take out and were left untouched. Unfortunately, a pellet lodged in Fleet’s nasal cavity later became infected. Surgery was performed yesterday to remove the pellet, but Fleet did not survive the operation.

Did you know Australia has the worst mammalian extinction rate compared to any other county in the world?

Here’s to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for all there efforts in rehabilitating and fighting to get Fleet back to perfect health. If you would also like to support the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital with their efforts in keeping our favourite marsupials safe, check out the following link.
